New Rule Changes

E-mail Print

Three significant rule changes have been implemented and will go into effect immediately. All three rules will make it easier for bowlers to win.

New Rule 5b states:

  • "The prize value for any strike shall not be less than the value of the Strike Run Entry."

  • This rule means that as long as you throw at least one strike during the Strike Run, you will win your money back. If the Strike Run event is an optional event you will win no less than the money you paid to enter. If the Strike Run was included in the tournament or league entry fee, then you will win no less than the portion of the entry fee that was used for the Strike Run.

This rule means that on occasion some strike values will be the same for one or more strikes. This is more likely when the entry fees are higher, or when a lot of money has already been paid out during a Strike Run round.

The second rules adjustment changes the minimum number of strikes needed to break the pot from six strikes to three strikes.

The following lines have been added to Strike Run Pot Rule 2:

  • $0 - $59 (3 Strikes needed to break the pot)
  • $60 - $119 (4 Strikes needed to break the pot)
  • $120 - $239 (5 Strikes needed to break the pot)
  •

This means that whenever the Strike Run pot is less than $60, it will only take 3 strikes to break the pot.

This change will increase the strike values when the pot is small.

The third change has actually been in place for several weeks. Strike Run Pot Rule #4c was added and states:

  • The maximum strike value at the start of a Strike Run round shall not be less than 10 times the value of the Strike Run Entry.
  • This means that no matter how many people enter a Strike Run event, the top prize will never be less than 10X the entry fee. For example, if the entry fee is $10, the Strike Run Pot for that event will be at least $100 (even if only 3 people enter).

So based on this scenario, using all of the new and existing rules. One bowler out of the three who paid $10 to enter, would bowl for the following amounts:

  • 0 Strikes = $6
  • 1 Strikes = $13
  • 2 Strikes = $25
  • 3 Strikes = $50
  • 4 Strikes = $100
