Low Entries Spark Major Changes

It was thought that a scratch format along with high average bowlers would be the key to a successful Strike Run. Unfortunatly that has not been the case as the first two weeks of the Chovan Mini-Series has been a disappointment in terms of entries.

As a result the decision was made to make significant changes that will allow more bowlers to advance to the Strike Run round. These changes will not only affect the final two weeks of the Choral series, they will apply to all future series.

We are now taking 1 out of every 2 entries to the Strike Run. That's right, half the field.

In addition, the series pot will also pay 1-in-2. If you can qualify in the top half, you will win some money.

How much you win will depend on where you qualify and what you do in the Strike Run. The advantage will always go to the top qualifier. Top qualifier will get the most series money and will have first shot at the pot, which is guaranteed to be at least $100.

To accommodate more qualifiers, some other sacrifices have to be made;

  • Bowlers are now required to get at least one strike to win any money during the Strike Run round.
  • There are no more wild card qualifiers
  • Sidepots are no longer included in the entry fee

REFERAL BONUS

To help attract new bowlers we are offering a referral program. If you refer a new bowler, and that new bowler qualifies in the top five, you AND the new bowler will win a cash bonus:

  • If the new bowler qualifies 1st you both win a $5 bonus
  • If the new bowler qualifies 2nd you both win a $4 bonus
  • If the new bowler qualifies 3rd you both win a $3 bonus
  • If the new bowler qualifies 4th you both win a $2 bonus
  • If the new bowler qualifies 5th you both win a $1 bonus

Comments

I think the strike run is a great way for scratch bowlers to compete against each other in one of the best scratch leagues in Southern Ca. Since there were no sidepots or brackets in the chovan classic this would be good way to compete against one another and throw some strikes after league with a chance to win a couple hundred dollars. I guess the bowlers in the league are not competative as only 6 or 8 out of 88 scratch bowlers compete for $10 or $20 entry fee. Brian is putting a lot of effort and time in trying to make the strike run work with little compensation because the entries are so low. He is doing this for the bowlers for some side action and competition. Lets get with it before its too late.
