The Cheetah pattern may be the highest scoring of the PBA patterns, but even so, today's top scores were higher than expected.
John Sowell averaged 227 en-route to the $300 first place prize. He lead from the start throwing a 279 in game one. He shot 675 for the final three and his grip on the top spot was never threatened.
Chris Glossner jumped from 5th to 2nd after throwing a 289 in the final game.
The top ten finishers all qualified for no-tap Strike Run round. John Sowell had first rights to the top prize of $147, and it looked like he had it in the bag until his fifth shot drifted high leaving an eight count and $18.
Chris Glossner was next up and he was not to be denied. He made quick work of his seven strikes to claim $133.
The next six qualifiers failed to collect any of what was left. Steve Smith, a Strike Run veteran and all-time Strike Run earnings leader, threw 7 strikes to break the pot for the fourth time in 2010. This time however, there was only $26 left to win.
This event was a non series event which means that points were not awarded.

In order to make the Strike Run more affordable to bowlers, the entry fee has been cut in half. This weeks entry fee will be only $10. This includes the Strike Run and series pot.
This event has been scaled down to accommodate the lower entry fee. Five Strikes during the Strike Run will be worth at least $80. The top qualifier is guaranteed to win their money back, even if they do not strike during the Strike Run.
Remember, this event has a cashing ratio of of 1 in 2. Half the field will win money in the Series Pot and half the field will have a chance at the Strike Run pot.
It was thought that a scratch format along with high average bowlers would be the key to a successful Strike Run. Unfortunatly that has not been the case as the first two weeks of the Chovan Mini-Series has been a disappointment in terms of entries.
As a result the decision was made to make significant changes that will allow more bowlers to advance to the Strike Run round. These changes will not only affect the final two weeks of the Choral series, they will apply to all future series.
We are now taking 1 out of every 2 entries to the Strike Run. That's right, half the field.
In addition, the series pot will also pay 1-in-2. If you can qualify in the top half, you will win some money.
How much you win will depend on where you qualify and what you do in the Strike Run. The advantage will always go to the top qualifier. Top qualifier will get the most series money and will have first shot at the pot, which is guaranteed to be at least $100.
